OUR CLIENT is a successful and leading provider of development, bridging, and investment finance for the real estate sector. They have provided billions of pounds in loans and funded the construction of thousands of new homes. With significant institutional capital, they are embarking on a period of rapid growth, broadening their product offerings, raising new capital, and building their team. They have instructed us to help appoint an Interim Fund Financial Controller to manage a small finance function in their London office.
This is an interim role with an ASAP start for 3-4 months.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Interim Fund Financial Controller will be responsible for:
Fund vehicles:
- Managing external fund administrators for ongoing operations, including investor drawdowns, distributions, board meetings, deal approvals, expense approvals, inter-company cash management, and structuring.
- Overseeing external bookkeepers maintaining fund accounts.
- Managing external debt facilities, including waterfall preparation, covenant tracking, and cash flow forecasting.
- Preparing and reviewing investor reports and fund cash flow forecasts.
- Managing external auditors and the year-end audit process, setting up new fund structures.
- Improving existing fund models for new workstreams.
- Collaborating with investor relations on accounting and fund performance queries.
- Liaising with overseas listing agents and legal advisors.
- Managing investor and debt cash flows to optimize fund IRR.
Internal finance:
- Reviewing quarterly management accounts and VAT returns.
- Managing statutory accounts and liaising with external bookkeepers.
- Arranging invoice payments.
- Handling the year-end audit process.
- Sourcing new accounting software.
Loan book reporting and management:
- Calculating interest, fees, principal, and managing loan documentation.
- Preparing monthly client statements.
- Supporting the credit team in maintaining the loan book.
- Reviewing redemption statements and ad hoc requests.
Regulatory and compliance:
- Managing relationships with UK regulatory providers.
- Overseeing compliance policies (AML, GDPR, CFA 2017) and liaising with consultants.
PERSON AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- ACA / ACCA qualified with relevant skills.
- Experience in real estate is highly advantageous.
- Exposure to risk, compliance, and regulatory controls.
- Background in private debt/equity, investment management, or investment banking.
- Experience working in a medium-sized or corporate environment with broad exposure.
- Excellent skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
