Michael Page Finance has partnered with South Yorkshire Police, seeking an Interim Finance Officer for a 4-month temporary contract. The role is based in Carbrook, Sheffield, with a 50/50 hybrid working arrangement. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to financial accounts.

South Yorkshire Police employs over 3,000 officers and 2,200 support staff, managing an annual budget exceeding 300 million. The finance department plays a key role in the organization’s transformation and strategic delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Performing monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheet reconciliations.
2. Reconciling acquisitions and disposals of force assets.
3. Controlling and coordinating specialist functions, ensuring accurate coding, recording, and monitoring of costs.
4. Analyzing and updating staff, special, and framework agreement costings.
5. Assisting with external government returns.
6. Completing month-end tasks and working with Business Intelligence reports.
7. Handling ad hoc requests for financial data.

Candidate Profile:

• Full AAT qualification or working towards it.
• Experience in a financial environment, including budget control and year-end procedures.
• Ability to analyze, evaluate, and interpret financial information.
• Experience with computerised financial systems in medium to large organisations.
• Experience with general ledger management.
• Knowledge of financial controls, rules, and regulations.
• Experience with Oracle and public sector finance is advantageous but not essential.
