Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a leading Housing Association to recruit an experienced Interim Finance Manager - Operations. This role offers hands-on leadership across the transactional finance function and an opportunity to make a tangible impact from day one.

You will guide Accounts Payable, Payroll, Rent Income, Sales Ledger and banking activities, driving performance, accountability and streamlined processes across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Fully or partly qualified accountant with operational finance experience in a complex environment.
• Extensive experience managing transactional finance services: purchase/sales ledger, banking, payments, reconciliations, and control accounts.
• Strong knowledge of financial controls, VAT and relevant tax considerations.
• Experience of rent income accounting, customer accounts and income reconciliation.
• Strong payroll knowledge including HMRC requirements, pensions and payroll controls.
• Experience improving finance systems, processes and data quality.
• Excellent people management skills with setting objectives and developing colleagues.
• Ability to use management reporting to improve service quality and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and day-to-day management across the transactional finance teams.
• Drive performance and foster a proactive, accountable, customer-focused culture.
• Oversee key finance operations with robust controls and accurate reconciliations.
• Lead managers and staff through regular 1:1s, objectives and performance management.
• Manage rent income accounting, customer accounts and income controls.
• Oversee payroll services and ensure HMRC compliance and pensions administration.
• Support ongoing digital and systems change, including procure-to-pay improvements.
• Collaborate with Finance, ICT, Procurement, HR and other stakeholders to enhance systems and service outcomes.
