A reputable financial services firm is seeking an Interim Finance Manager to provide critical support during a busy financial period. This senior role will oversee financial operations, including month-end closures, compliance reporting, and cash flow management. The ideal candidate has significant experience in finance management and is proficient in accounting software. This position is contracted for a minimum of 2 months, with a competitive salary ranging from £35,000 to £40,000 per annum, pro-rata.

Overview
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Interim Finance Manager to provide hands-on support during a critical and busy financial period. This is a senior, temporary role ideal for a proactive individual who can take ownership of core financial operations, maintain day-to-day control, and deliver financial insight that supports sound decision-making.
You’ll be joining a small but dynamic team where your ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and bring structure to finance processes will be highly valued. The role suits someone who has held financial responsibility in SMEs or similar environments and is confident in both transactional and strategic finance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations & Oversight
• Manage and execute the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, providing commentary and variance analysis.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, collections, and payments.
• Monitor and manage cash flow, highlighting trends and assisting with short-term forecasting.
Compliance & Reporting
• Ensure timely and accurate VAT returns and statutory filings with HMRC.
• Support year-end preparations and liaise with external accountants.
• Assist with payroll processing and ensure relevant compliance requirements are met.
Process & System Improvement
• Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and financial reporting accuracy.
• Maintain comprehensive and audit-ready financial records.
Support & Advisory
• Partner with non-financial teams to offer financial clarity and insights.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting cycles as required.
• Act as the key point of contact for all finance matters during the interim period.
About You
• Significant experience in a Finance Manager, Company Accountant, or similar role.
• Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred but not essential.
• Proficient in accounting software (Sage preferred) and confident with Excel or Google Sheets.
• Strong communicator, able to explain finance matters clearly to non-financial colleagues.
• Organised, self-motivated, and capable of delivering under minimal supervision.
• Team-oriented and happy to support wherever needed to ensure financial continuity.
