g2 Recruitment is partnering with a public-sector body in the Midlands for an Interim Part-Time Financial Services Manager/Deputy S151. The role focuses on strategic financial governance, budget setting, and MTFS delivery within a hybrid Midlands setting.

The ideal candidate is a CCAB/CIPFA qualified accountant with substantial post-qualification experience, capable of leading a finance team and advising senior stakeholders, while deputising for the Section 151 Officer as required.

Qualifications

• Qualified CCAB/CIPFA Accountant with substantial post-qualification experience.
• Experience working in Local Government Finance.
• Experience in a senior finance leadership position (e.g., Financial Services Manager, Deputy S151).
• Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders and elected members.

Responsibilities

• Support the Section 151 Officer in strategic financial governance and compliance.
• Lead and manage the finance team with development and performance management.
• Provide high-quality financial advice to senior managers and directors.
• Support MTFS, budget setting, and financial monitoring processes.
• Oversee statutory reporting, year-end closedown, and production of the Statement of Accounts.
• Drive financial improvement initiatives and service efficiencies.
• Deputise for the Section 151 Officer and represent the finance function in forums.
