Job summary

Adecco is seeking an Interim Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership during a pivotal transition. You will work with the Executive Team to shape financial position, ensuring robust strategies and a fit-for-purpose finance function.

The role focuses on governance, budgeting and finance transformation within a not-for-profit, highly regulated context. Hybrid London placement, immediate start.

Qualifications

• Proven track record at executive/finance director or consultant level.

Responsibilities

• Review financial practices, controls and reporting to reflect current needs.
• Lead budgeting for the 2026/27 cycle (Oct 2026–Mar 2027).
• Drive a finance systems transformation programme and reporting improvements.
• Provide strategic financial advice at Exec and Board level.
• Improve governance, efficiency and decision-making across the organisation.
• Lead and mentor the finance team with a culture of excellence.

Are you an experienced finance leader with a strong track record of operating at Executive level within the social care or housing sectors?

Our client is seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership during a pivotal transition period. Working closely with the Executive Team, you will take a strategic view of the organisation's financial position, ensuring robust financial strategies are in place and help ensure the finance function is fit for the future.

Key Responsibilities

• Review existing financial practices, controls and reporting to ensure the organisation has an accurate and robust financial picture that reflects current business needs.
• Lead the development and implementation of a budgeting process that is fit for purpose for the 2026/27 budgeting cycle (October 2026 to March 2027).
• Review, develop and drive a finance systems transformation programme, ensuring processes, systems and reporting support organisational objectives.
• Provide strategic financial advice and challenge at Executive and Board level.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial governance, efficiency and decision-making across the organisation.
• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.

About You

You will be an experienced finance professional with:

• A proven track record operating at Executive, Finance Director or Consultant level.
• Significant experience within social care, housing, or a closely related not-for-profit and highly regulated environment is preferred.
• Strong strategic financial planning and budgeting expertise.
• Experience leading finance transformation and systems improvement projects.
• The ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide credible challenge and guidance.
• Comprehensive knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
• A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
