North West Local Authority is seeking an Interim Environmental Protection Technician to support the Environmental Protection team, focusing on noise nuisance, pollution matters, and planning consultations. This is a 6-month contract to help manage a backlog of service requests and provide additional capacity while a long-term vacancy remains unfilled.

The role is full-time (37 hours per week) with a hybrid working model; attendance at the office or site visits is expected for at least three days

Qualifications

• Experience working within Environmental Protection Act 1990.
• Investigating and resolving statutory nuisance cases.
• Managing and responding to noise complaints.
• Pollution prevention, regulation, and enforcement.
• Environmental Protection or Environmental Health within a local authority setting.
• Environmental permitting and associated compliance activities.
• Assessing and commenting on planning applications and consultations.
