Job summary

SSQ in London is seeking an Employment Associate for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role offers exposure to a broad employment practice, advising multinational corporates, financial institutions and major businesses on contentious and non-contentious matters.

You will work closely with senior lawyers, handling high-quality matters in a collaborative environment and developing expertise across disputes, advisory work and corporate transactions.

Qualifications

• Experience in a reputable employment practice, ideally at a City or international law firm.
• Strong grounding in both contentious and non-contentious employment law.
• Excellent drafting, communication and commercial advisory skills.
• Ability to manage matters independently within a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Handle Employment Tribunal and High Court litigation, including discrimination and unfair dismissal cases.
• Provide day-to-day employment advisory support, including grievances and investigations.
• Manage restrictive covenants, business protection and disputes related to employment.
• Assist with workforce restructurings, collective redundancies, and TUPE matters.
• Contribute to employment aspects of corporate transactions, including due diligence.
• Collaborate with international colleagues on cross-border employment projects.

We are working with a leading international law firm that is looking to recruit an Employment Associate into its London team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

The Role

The successful candidate will gain exposure to a varied and high-quality workload, including:

• Employment Tribunal and High Court litigation, including discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair dismissal and breach of contract claims.
• Day-to-day employment advisory work, including grievances, disciplinary processes, workplace investigations and senior executive exits.
• Restrictive covenants, business protection and employment-related disputes.
• Workforce restructurings, collective redundancies and TUPE matters.
• Employment aspects of corporate transactions, including due diligence and post-acquisition integration.
• Cross-border employment projects, working alongside international colleagues.

The team offers a genuinely broad practice, with opportunities to take on responsibility and work directly with senior lawyers and clients.
