Overview

Job Title: Interim Education Development Officer / Project Manager

Contract: 3 months (with potential for extension)

Location: Berkshire, England

Working Arrangements: Hybrid working role, but candidate must have the ability to work occasionally out of hours to attend meetings. Also, must be able to travel extensively throughout the district.

We are looking for an experienced Interim Education Development Officer / Project Manager to lead the development and delivery of projects that improve outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong project management expertise and a background in education development to make a real impact in shaping specialist provision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on the identification and planning of capital projects to meet current and forecast SEND needs.
  • Analyse data, engage with key stakeholders, and identify viable accommodation and provision solutions.
  • Develop project briefs, business cases, funding bids, and delivery plans.
  • Provide budget estimates and monitor progress to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Oversee statutory approvals and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Produce clear reports and updates for senior stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with schools, colleagues, and partners to ensure successful project delivery.
About You
  • Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience in a related role.
  • Proven experience in project management, ideally within education or public sector.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of school premises standards, SEND provision, and education-related legislation is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
