Job description

Interim Director of Finance & IT

Location: London (hybrid working available)

Duration: 9 months

Working pattern: 4 days per week (open to 5 days)

Start Date: As soon as possible

A well-established, globally connected organisation is seeking an Interim Director of Finance & IT to provide leadership and stability during a critical period of digital transformation.

This role combines strategic oversight with operational delivery, reporting directly to the CEO and supporting both finance and IT operations. The successful candidate will lead an IT transformation programme, including migrating core infrastructure to the cloud, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide strategic leadership and operational management of finance and IT infrastructure.
  2. Oversee IT transformation projects, including cloud migration using Microsoft ecosystems (365, Dynamics, Azure).
  3. Manage financial reporting, risk registers, compliance, budgeting, and KPI dashboards.
  4. Lead a small finance team and manage relationships with external suppliers, including IT and legal.
  5. Support the CEO, attend board meetings, and act as a representative on finance matters.
  6. Qualifications: Chartered Accountant (ACA preferred) with substantial post-qualification experience.
  7. Proven finance leadership, with experience in large corporate and charity settings.
  8. Experience in IT transformation projects and system migrations.
  9. Knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile).
  10. Strong commercial acumen, supplier management, and risk handling skills.
  11. Background in UK charity or non-profit sector, with experience in property, leases, government grants, and fundraising.
  12. Proficiency with Microsoft Business Central and Power BI.
