6-Month Fixed Term | Full-Time | Canterbury | Competitive Salary

The King’s School, Canterbury – one of the UK’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools – is seeking an experienced and strategic Interim Director of Finance to join our team for a six-month appointment.

Reporting to the Bursar, the Director of Finance will hold overall responsibility for the School’s financial strategy and operations. This includes managing the 10-Year Strategic Financial Plan, budgets, cash flow, investments, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations, charity law, and tax obligations.

You will lead the Finance team, oversee key financial processes (including payroll, pensions, VAT, and audit), and work closely with senior stakeholders to support strategic planning and school-wide improvement projects.

Essential qualifications and experience:

ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified

Proven track record in financial leadership within a complex organisation

Strong understanding of charity finance, independent schools, and long-term strategic planning

Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, and leadership skills
