Job summary

Adecco, in partnership with Ealing Council, is recruiting an Interim Assistant Director, Building Control to lead the Service during regulatory changes. Based at Perceval House, Ealing, the role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery to ensure compliance with Building Regulations, Building Safety Act, and Fire Safety requirements.

Reporting to the Strategic Director for Economy & Sustainability, you will drive service improvement, manage budgets and income, and develop partnerships

Qualifications

• Significant senior management experience within Building Control.
• Deep knowledge of Building Regulations, Building Acts and safety legislation.
• Proven track record in inspection, enforcement and compliance.
• Experience delivering income-generating, customer-focused services.
• Experience managing budgets and service delivery targets.
• Strong leadership, people management and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to drive service transformation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Building Control Service for day-to-day delivery.
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations and safety legislation.
• Oversee inspection and regulation of high-rise and high-risk buildings.
• Support regulator partners and collaborate with authorities.
• Drive service improvement, performance, and customer satisfaction.
• Develop strategies to maximise income and market share.
• Manage budgets, fees and charging structures for sustainability.
