Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited in Kettering, Northamptonshire, is seeking an interim head for Building Control & Building Safety on a 3-month contract at £75/hr umbrella. You will lead the Council's Building Control Service, shaping strategy, delivery, and customer-focused services while ensuring compliance and cost-effectiveness.

The role requires extensive senior leadership in Building Control, public-sector experience, and a track record of managing multidisciplinary teams and budgets.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior-level experience in Building Control/Surveying.
• Experience in Local Government/public sector.
• Proven track record in managing multidisciplinary teams and driving service transformation.
• Experience in developing and executing strategic plans and service improvement initiatives.
• Proficiency in managing complex budgets, financial planning, and revenue-generating services.
• Experience in managing contracts, procurement activities, and external service providers.
• Experience in implementing compliance and quality assurance frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Offer professional leadership and expert guidance on all matters related to Building Control and Building Safety.
• Ensure the service adheres to statutory Building Control legislation, regulations, and requirements set by the Building Safety Regulator.
• Lead the establishment and maintenance of quality assurance systems to uphold consistent service standards.
• Oversee service delivery, ensuring technical excellence, legal compliance, and effective risk management.
• Guide the implementation of new legislative requirements, including the Building Safety Levy and related regulatory changes.
