Job summary

Experis UK seeks an experienced Interim Chief Information Security Officer to provide strategic and operational cyber security leadership during a critical phase of maturity. You will steer governance, risk, and security assurance across a managed SOC environment and engage senior stakeholders.

The role requires a proven track record in high‑regulation or mission‑driven settings, preferably in higher education, not‑for‑profit or public sector contexts. Immediate availability is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as CISO or senior security leader in complex environments.
• Leads enterprise cybersecurity programmes with broad scope.
• Ability to engage executives and board audiences.
• Experience overseeing managed SOC and external security providers.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for information and cyber security.
• Develop and execute a pragmatic cyber security strategy aligned to objectives.
• Lead governance, risk management and security assurance activities.
• Oversee security operations with third‑party SOC and providers.
• Establish and maintain security policies, standards and controls.
• Deliver security reporting to executives, Boards and Audit Committees.
• Drive cyber maturity across people, process and technology.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and governance requirements.
• Collaborate with technology, data protection, risk and business leaders.
