Job summary

A private equity-backed Energy business is seeking an interim CFO to guide the organization through a transitional phase. This role requires a seasoned financial leader with strong expertise in the energy sector and experience in driving change, engaging with the board, and managing financial reporting and compliance. The position is primarily remote, with occasional travel required across the country and is compensated with a competitive daily rate.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a CFO or Financial Director.
• Experience in heavier industries like energy, construction, or infrastructure.
• Availability by mid-March.

Job description

Our client is a private equity backed Energy business undergoing leadership change and need an interim CFO to support through the transition.

Skills/experience required:

• Strong experience in the number 1 role (CFO/FD)
• Strong experience in heavier industries (infrastructure, O&G, Energy, construction)
• Ability to drive change with high EQ
• Ability to travel to various offices around the country although it is mostly remote working
• A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)

You must be available by latest 31st March, but ideally by mid March. One month notice will not work.

Day rate £900-1100/inside IR35. 3-6 months contract.

Main responsibilities:

• It will be a traditional CFO role, including:
• Dealing with the Senior Leadership Team/board/investors
• Oversight of all new projects/investments
• Oversight and improvement of FP&A and financial reporting
• Ensuring overall risk assurance / control compliance rigour including balance sheet integrity (got to be prepared to roll your sleeves up)
• Oversight of tax with advisors and HMRC
• Dealing with energy trading partner to mitigate consumption costs
• Lead and develop the finance team
• There may well be additional projects too, including:
• Oversight of financial systems, including potential upgrades
• Support on debt refinancing process
