Interim Chief Accountant

Rate: £650 per day

Our client, a local authority, is seeking an experienced Interim Chief Accountant to lead their corporate accounting function. This hands-on role requires both strategic oversight and technical expertise to ensure financial integrity and compliance within the public sector.

Key Requirements:

1. Manage the corporate finance function, overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance.
2. Deliver hands-on financial work, including budgeting, audit processes, tax compliance, and IFRS reporting.
3. Ensure adherence to local government financial regulations while improving internal controls and processes.
4. Manage and mentor finance teams, providing strategic direction and ensuring effective execution.
5. Work closely with senior leadership and council members to support financial decision-making.
