Interim Building Works Surveyor
£42.78p/h (Umbrella Rate - Inside IR35)

Hybrid working - with regular site visits required across the Borough
Waltham Forest are seeking an experienced Building Works Surveyor to support the resolution of disrepair issues across their housing portfolio. You'll play a key role in improving living standards and ensuring safe, compliant homes-by managing inspections, driving contractor performance, and working closely with the council's Building Safety and Compliance teams.
What you'll be doing:
·Leading on inspections and assessments of disrepair cases, ensuring timely and cost-effective resolutions
·Monitoring contractor delivery across repair contracts-ensuring all works meet compliance, specification, schedule, and budget
·Maintaining accurate digital records and reporting on the progress, quality, and cost of works
·Supporting the update and accuracy of the asset management database following site visits
·Providing expert advice and technical support to internal teams, residents, and stakeholders
·Coordinating closely with the Building Safety Operations and Compliance teams to ensure homes are safe and meet all regulatory standards
·Investigating complex repairs issues and escalated complaints with a resident-first approach
What we're looking for:
·UK Resident
·Minimum 3 years' experience within a local authority or social housing environment- specifically around disrepair, reactive maintenance, and contractor management
·Confident communicator who can deliver clear technical advice to a range of audiences
·Excellent knowledge of housing standards, H&S regulations, and compliance frameworks
·Skilled at managing competing priorities, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach
·Resident-focused, with a track record of delivering positive outcomes in complex cases
