Job summary

Vivid Resourcing Ltd is supporting a local authority in Guildford to recruit an Interim Building Surveyor. The role covers surveying, specifying and supervising building works across a mixed portfolio of operational and residential properties.

The post requires MRICS or working towards it, plus demonstrable experience in condition surveys and contract administration within public sector or housing contexts.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Building Surveyor in public sector or similar.
• Experience carrying out surveys, preparing specs, managing contractors.

Responsibilities

• Carry out building inspections and condition surveys with clear reports and prioritised recommendations
• Prepare specifications, schedules of work and tender docs for repairs and refurbishments
• Manage planned and reactive maintenance programmes across the property portfolio
• Administer building contracts, monitor progress, value work and manage variations
• Oversee contractors on site to ensure quality, safety and compliance with specifications
• Investigate defects and remedial actions, advise on solutions and costs
• Ensure compliance with building regs, health and safety, and statutory obligations
• Support asset management planning and long-term maintenance forecasting
• Maintain project records, budgets and reporting for senior colleagues
• Liaise with tenants, occupiers, stakeholders on property matters
