Interim Assistant Accountant - 3 month contract

Robertson Bell are pleased to be working with a leading membership body who are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their busy finance team on an initial three-month contract, with a strong likelihood of becoming permanent. This is a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified or actively studying accountant to gain broad exposure across both transactional finance and management accounts in a supportive and collaborative environment.

The role:

  • Take ownership of accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment runs, and cash allocation.
  • Post bank transactions and complete reconciliations across a portfolio of entities.
  • Prepare accruals, prepayments, and maintain ledgers up to trial balance.
  • Support the month-end process, including producing elements of the management accounts.
  • Review budgets and respond to queries from business partners regarding coding and spend.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be actively studying towards ACCA/CIMA or equivalent (study support available if permanent).
  • Have experience across AP, AR and general ledger work, ideally within the charity or membership sector.
  • Possess excellent Excel and systems skills.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

This organisation offers hybrid working with three days per week in their central London office. Interviews are being scheduled before 6th October, with an immediate start available for the successful candidate.
