Job summary

GTC Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Interaction Designer to join a high-profile digital programme on a 6-month contract. You will design accessible, responsive websites and digital services, turning user research into practical design solutions.

You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team, use Figma for wireframes and prototypes, collaborate with content editors and developers, and contribute to improving services while balancing usability and accessibility.

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing public-facing websites, particularly content-heavy sites.
• Experience designing for CMS platforms, such as WordPress, or working closely with editors.
• Strong understanding of responsive, accessible and user-centred web design.

Responsibilities

• Design engaging, accessible and responsive public-facing websites.
• Create user journeys, page structures, navigation and task flows.
• Produce wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs using Figma.
• Work with content management systems and website editors.
• Translate user research and content requirements into effective design solutions.
• Work closely with Product Managers, Delivery Managers, User Researchers, Content Designers, Developers and Accessibility Specialists.
• Support usability testing and iterate designs based on feedback and research.
• Maintain organised Figma files, reusable design assets and design documentation.
• Contribute to improving existing services, developing new platforms and addressing design debt.
• Balance visual design, usability and accessibility across different devices and user needs.

Interaction Designer – £650 per day | Inside IR35 | Hybrid- 2 days per week | 6 Months | BPSS

Location: National, travel to closest office- 2 days per week

We’re looking for an experienced Interaction Designer to join a high-profile digital programme on a 6-month contract.

This is a great opportunity for a designer with strong web design, interaction design and accessibility experience who enjoys working on public-facing, content-rich digital experiences.

The Role

You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team to design and improve accessible, responsive and user-friendly websites and digital services.

You’ll be involved in both live service improvements and future-facing platform development, helping teams turn user research and content requirements into clear, practical design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design engaging, accessible and responsive public-facing websites.
• Create user journeys, page structures, navigation and task flows.
• Produce wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs using Figma.
• Work with content management systems and website editors.

About You

You’ll need:

• Strong experience designing public-facing websites, particularly content-heavy, campaign or recruitment-style sites.
• Experience designing for CMS platforms, such as WordPress, or working closely with website editors.
• Strong understanding of responsive, accessible and user-centred web design.
• Experience designing clear user journeys, information structures, navigation and task flows.
• Strong Figma skills, including prototyping and maintaining reusable design assets.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary digital teams.
• The ability to turn research and content needs into practical design improvements.
• Experience testing, iterating and refining designs.
• A good understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles.
• Confidence balancing usability and visual design, particularly for websites that need to feel distinct from standard GOVuk patterns.
