This is an exciting opportunity to join Barnsley’s new Intensive Prevention Team as an Advanced Practitioner. The Intensive Prevention Team (IPT) works with children aged 10-18 at risk of entering Local Authority care. You will assist the Team Manager in leading efforts to strengthen family relationships and reduce the likelihood of this outcome. Managing complex cases, assessing and mitigating risks, sharing specialist knowledge, and contributing to practice development.

You Will

  • Work with the Team Manager to embed and establish the new Intensive Prevention Team by contributing to service planning and ensuring interventions are delivered which are tailored to individual family needs and are focused on improving outcomes for children.
  • Support senior colleagues with the prioritisation, allocation, planning and review of work in accordance with policies, procedures and statutory requirements, contributing to effective budget management, ensuring value for public money and the maximisation of service efficiencies.
  • To support the team to engage and develop effective relationships with young people and families referred to the service, thinking creatively where there are barriers to intervention. Intervention will focus on overcoming barriers which may be impacting on their health, social and emotional and educational needs to improve their outcomes and reach their full potential whilst remaining in their family setting
  • Manage and deliver support to families which is focused on building upon networks and utilising existing resources to achieve safety and support for children and families in crisis .

  • Profession Social Work Qualification
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD
