Job summary

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an ITU Registrar to join the intensive care team. The post holder will review and manage acutely ill adults in the ICU and across the hospital, including wards and the emergency department.

Under the supervision of Intensive Care Consultants, you will assist in assessment, admission, day-to-day management, investigations, procedures and discharge, with opportunities for teaching and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Daily review and management of critically ill adult patients in the critical care department.
• Based on the Intensive Care Unit, review and manage critically ill patients throughout the hospital, primarily on the wards and in the emergency department.
• Assist in assessment, admission, day-to-day management, investigations, practical procedures and final discharge of patients under supervision of Intensive Care Consultants.
• ITU registrars to work at the level of a Specialty Registrar, with increased responsibility and support from consultants.
• Regular opportunities for teaching.

Job description

The post holder will be responsible for the daily review and management of critically ill adult patients in the critical care department. The candidate will be based on the Intensive Care Unit, but will also be responsible for reviewing and managing critically ill patients throughout the hospital, primarily on the wards and in the emergency department.

Under the supervision of the Intensive Care Consultants, you will assist in the assessment, admission, day-to-day management, investigation, practical procedures and final discharge of patients. The ITU registrars will be expected to work at the level of a Specialty Registrar, with increased responsibility for assessment and management of unwell patients in the ITU and hospital, and for the supervision of more junior trainees. They will be supported in this by the consultant body.

The applicant must be airway trained with RCOA IAC documentation or equivalent. There will be a regular opportunity for delivery of teaching.
