The Role
NAFN Data and Intelligence Services is a national service provided and hosted by Tameside Council. It is one of the UK’s largest shared services providing data, intelligence and best practice to support verification, debt recovery, criminal and fraud investigations to the public sector, including local authorities, housing providers and other government agencies. It has a customer base of over 400 member organisations and over 10,000 active registered users.
Established in 1997, the organisation has grown and developed its service offer to members and established key working relationships with the Home Office, DVLA and the Local Government Association as well as other national and regional bodies.
Our Intelligence Support Officers’ are jointly responsible for assessing and processing data and intelligence requests on behalf of member organisations conducting criminal and civil investigations in strict accordance with the law, NAFN prescribed processes and meeting agreed performance targets.
Specialising in gathering data under the Data Protection Act 2018 for the purposes of prevention and detection of crime, assessment and collection of tax, and for use in legal proceedings, the post holder is responsible and accountable for exercising good judgement and providing meaningful advice when sharing sensitive information. The post holder is also responsible for making decisions about the release of data following guidance provided by the data controllers, and for providing information and support to fraud and other investigators from subscribing and non-subscribing organisations, which include local authorities, wider public authorities and social housing providers.
About You
The post holder is required to provide day-to-day support to the Service Delivery Team. Some of these tasks will be routine in nature but there will be opportunities to participate in project delivery and marketing activities under the direction of the Leadership Team.
