Job objectives and responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to join Mitie Intelligence Services (MIS) as part of the Intelligence Hub, in a new role within the rapidly evolving and growing team. This role will be working on the Watchkeeper 24/7 team, looking at emerging and ongoing threats both nationally and internationally. The Intelligence Hub's remit is to provide an open-source intelligence (OSINT) capability to Mitie and Mitie's clients. The Hub is responsible for identifying potential threats to our clients' employees and business operations and delivering timely, actionable threat intelligence to inform and facilitate our clients' decision-making to mitigate identified threats. The Hub also provides major incident communications support in response to significant incidents and bespoke digital investigation services in response to unique security requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience in an OSINT, crime or security intelligence-related environment (law enforcement, military, government or private sector), or demonstrated passion for OSINT or security through education or personal interests. You will be a confident, decisive contributor who can operate in a dynamic, agile environment with excellent judgment and written communication skills. You will inspire others with your passion to provide excellent threat reporting to assist client security decision-making and improve business resilience.

Job Purpose

To deliver reliable, actionable intelligence concerning crime and security threats to the client to identify threats, vulnerabilities and risks impacting loss and safety, and contribute to creating a safe and secure environment for staff and customers. Reporting to Intelligence Hub Operations Management.

Scope of the role

Provide the highest standards of intelligence collation, evaluation, and analysis to influence key decision makers and foster key partnerships with law enforcement and other authorities when deemed necessary and proportionate.

The Role – Key accountabilities and measures

  • Proactively merge intelligence from disparate qualitative and quantitative sources and draw inferences based on client needs.
  • Use OSINT to identify security threats to our clients' people and property, escalating as appropriate.
  • Support the analytical work of the intelligence analyst team to produce a variety of intelligence products.
  • Support the major incident response of the department, communicating to all relevant stakeholders in a timely, accurate and concise manner.
  • Maintain mass communications software, including regular updating of clients' contact details and preferences.
  • Use bulk data within Excel and other software to produce baseline security threat assessments for client assets.
  • Conduct other research or duties as required by the Intelligence Operations Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and company and client quality standards.
  • Flexibility to work weekend and night shifts across an eight-week shift pattern.

  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and conducting other types of internet-based research.
  • Ability to research multiple online sources and collate large pieces of security-specific information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to engage with colleagues, clients and senior management in a professional manner.
  • Experience of working within a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Computer literate with a variety of software, including Microsoft Office and bespoke software.
  • Intermediate level use of Microsoft Excel with the desire to develop further.
  • Solid organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities and achieve tight deadlines.
  • A positive attitude, ability to deal with pressure in a professional manner, and a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Work as part of a team to deliver an exceptional service to the client.
