Grade D - £30,333 - £32,613 + 15.82% Equalisation Allowance

OCC Speke

Shift

Please note staff currently in the Internal re-deployment pool will be considered in the first instance, and the role may be withdrawn without notice

We are pleased to advertise recruitment opportunities for Intelligence Development Officer (IDO) Grade D vacancies to join the Operational Intelligence Unit (OIU) in the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) at Merseyside Police.

About the role

The IDO role is an exciting operational police staff role, based at the heart of the Intelligence function. As an IDO you will be responsible for the development of high risk threats and intelligence relating to OCGs, firearms, drugs, child abuse, exploitation, Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery, Organised Immigration Crime, and all threats facing the communities of Merseyside.

Using all possible contacts and tactics you will fill intelligence gaps so that operational officers can take decisive action against these issues, and support other law enforcement agencies to fight these issues at a national and international level.

You will work alongside Analysts to develop the highest threats facing the force and local areas, so that our leaders can put people in the right place at the right time, and improve what we know about Serious & Organised Crime to dismantle it and reduce its harmful consequences.

You will also be part of FIB's 24/7 function, working as part of the response team for high risk \"crimes in action\", and playing a large part in the daily dissemination of the highest priority information and intelligence that has impacted the force over the last 24 hours.

As an IDO you will have special powers appointed by the Chief Constable making you able to swear out warrants and seize property in pursuit of the disruption of OCGs and other high risk criminals, making it harder for them to operate on the streets of Merseyside.

We are excited to offer this opportunity to be part of a dynamic and rewarding intelligence team.

The OIU is set up into 3 syndicates, based at the OCC, all working a 6-week shift pattern of days, some lates and some weekends, and participation on a night rota (approximately 4 sets of weekdays / weekends per year) to provide the force 24/7 intelligence function.

To do this role you should be:

  • Professionally curious, creative and determined in pursuit of information to fill intelligence gaps to reduce threat harm and risk to the communities of Merseyside.

  • Decisive and able to research and respond quickly to requests for information.

  • Comfortable talking to staff and officers of all levels, and presenting information to groups e.g. operational teams and Magistrates.

  • Able to work independently and prioritise work based on threat, harm and risk.

  • Keen to collaborate with other roles in FIB to ensure the force and local tasking and coordination processes deliver action.

  • Willing to undertake assessment to become a certified Intelligence Officer as part of the Intelligence Professionalisation Programme.

Benefits

  • 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays pro rata increasing to 30 days plus 8 bank holidays after 5 years full service.

  • Local Government Pension Scheme with contributions from 5.5% to 11.5% depending on your salary.

  • Access to on-site gyms - HQ and OCC

  • Option to become a member of the onsite unions.

  • Discounts from various retailers via the Blue Light Scheme

  • Cycle to work scheme.

  • Taskers Salary sacrifice car scheme
