Job summary

Smart Communications is seeking developers to help advance the Conversation Cloud platform for regulated enterprises. You will build connectors, write automated tests, and contribute in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

We value quick learning, collaboration with product management, and strong Java experience (11+). Familiarity with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern Java ecosystems is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java 11+; Java 17 in use.
• JUnit 5 experience for unit testing.
• Strong teamwork and fast learning ability.
• Able to discuss requirements with product management and iterate.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain various partner connectors for the Conversation Cloud.
• Create and maintain automated tests alongside product changes.
• Take shared responsibility for team output.
• Participate in agile ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, demos, retrospectives).

Who are you?

• You consider yourself a Developer, but your real skill is learning – you quickly and enthusiastically pick up new technologies, libraries, tools, techniques, and domains knowledge to deliver the right solution.
• Other key technologies we work with include Salesforce Apex, Visualforce, Lightning, Python, AWS and Docker, so experience with any of those will be advantageous. We hope you’ll be working with us for years to come, and we don’t know where the business requirements will take us, so you need to be prepared to get out of your comfort zone and learn new things.
• You know there’s a big difference between code that just-about-works versus “clean” code that’s well-structured and maintainable – and you want to deliver the latter. You love the confidence you get from a thorough test suite and build pipeline.
• You’re comfortable discussing requirements with the product management team, throwing your own ideas into the mix and constructively engaging to iterate on requirements and deliver the maximum value for the effort expended.
• You like working in an Agile development environment and taking responsibility for getting things done as part of a team. You want to be the best you can be and embrace the chance to learn and adapt. You almost always get done what you say you will, and if you don’t you take the time to learn from the experience.

The responsibilities of the role include:

• Create and maintain various partner connectors for the Smart Communications Conversation Cloud™
• Create and maintain appropriate automated tests alongside all product changes
• Take shared responsibility for the output of their team
• Participate in the agile process including stand-ups, planning, demo’s and retrospectives

What we’re looking for:
