Band 6 Salary Range £39,912 - £48,635 per annum (pro rata)
Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £2,380 per annum (pro rata)

Are you a registered midwife who wishes the opportunity to work in a rural community and experience the unique challenges that come from our remote geographical location? We welcome applications from experienced registered midwives ready to join the team at Band 6
You will be working as part of a friendly and supportive team based at the Gilbert Bain Hospital where you will be able to deliver true woman-centred care and be a fully integrated Midwife.
You must be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and have effective and adaptable interpersonal and organisational skills. This post involves travelling and a high degree of flexibility including on- call and air ambulance transfers to the mainland.
The post-holder will work to uphold the philosophy of care within the unit to ensure that women and their families are the central focus of a high quality service and that care provided is individualised. You will have knowledge of child protection responsibilities and the GIRFEC process.
There is a strong history of joint working with other agencies in Shetland to the overall benefit of the local community. Maternity Services are fully engaged in this through the Early Years Collaborative.
