We at Natural Resources Wales (NRW) make complex decisions that integrate environmental, economic, and social considerations to achieve sustainable management of natural resources (SMNR). We are seeking a manager to lead teams that integrate knowledge and evidence across NRW to inform decision-making, evaluate impacts, learn, and communicate findings. As Manager, Integrated Evidence, you will oversee around 16 specialists, including 6 direct reports, reporting to the Head of Knowledge and Evidence within our Leadership Team.

We support flexible working arrangements. You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home, with a hybrid working pattern to be agreed upon appointment. Any face-to-face meetings or training will be scheduled in advance. Interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams. Successful applicants will undergo a DBS check. Appointments are typically made within 4 to 8 weeks after the closing date.

About us

The Knowledge and Evidence Department leads NRW's evidence-based strategy, utilizing science and expertise to deploy tools such as regulation, grants, advice, advocacy, partnership, and land management to achieve our corporate wellbeing objectives: Nature recovery, resilient communities to climate change, and pollution prevention. We learn from our decisions' impacts and share knowledge to support others in achieving these objectives. You will manage teams that synthesize knowledge from diverse specialisms into integrated decisions, including leading the production of our 5-year State of Natural Resources Report (SoNaRR).

What you will do
  • Manage programmes to collate and integrate evidence supporting Welsh Government Natural Resources Policy and SMNR across NRW.
  • Lead horizon scanning and innovation to identify risks, opportunities, and solutions.
  • Establish quality assurance processes for evidence, including peer review, and guide evidence prioritization.
  • Manage the Integrated Evidence Group (IEG) and develop the Knowledge and Evidence Service Plan.
  • Oversee the 5-yearly SoNaRR cycle, ensuring timely, quality reports that support advocacy efforts.
  • Project manage complex issues like expert advice, guidance, and technical briefings.
  • Work with other managers to ensure strategic approaches are well evidenced and adaptable.
  • Develop personal and team development plans.
  • Manage the group budget.
  • Undertake health and safety responsibilities.
