A leading healthcare trust in the UK is seeking a Band 8A Integrated Clinical Lead Pharmacist to join their mental health team in Bedford and Luton. The successful candidate will provide clinical pharmacy services, manage a junior team, and play a key role in improving patient outcomes in psychiatric care, while also having opportunities for professional growth in an expanding trust.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in Psychiatric therapeutics.
  • Independent Prescribing qualification is desirable; guidance will be provided.
  • Experience of mentorship and providing teaching sessions to pharmacy and other staff.

Job description

Monday to Friday. Saturday 1 in 12 weeks (8-12 remote). Oncall optional

We are looking forONE Band 8A Integrated Clinical Lead Pharmacists. The post-holder will be based a couple of days a week in Florence Ball House Bedford to work with the Crisis team.

For the remaining days, the successful candidates will be expected to support Inpatient Mental Health Clinical services, working closely with Integrated Clinical Lead Pharmacist and Lead Pharmacist to develop clinical pharmacy services within Bedford and Luton across the services.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in Psychiatric therapeutics and will be able to work confidently as an individual and as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team to drive forward service improvement and improve patient outcomes

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a Specialist Mental Health Pharmacist to join our dynamic Bedford and Luton mental health team as the Integrated Clinical Lead. In this role you will provide clinical pharmacy and medicines management services to mental health services across the Home treatment teams and Inpatient wards. You will also be responsible for managing and supporting a junior pharmacy team in collaboration with the Lead Pharmacist.

We are an expanding trust, which means there is lots of opportunity for experience and growth. We cover Adult inpatients, CAMHS, Perinatal Services, Crisis and Home Treatment teams, Community Mental Health and you will have the opportunity to link in with our pharmacy teams in Community Health Services and Primary Care.

Person Specification
Educational/ Qualification
  • Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy (equivalent)
  • Pre-registration training
  • Post registration training relevant to hospital pharmacy (substantial experience in a Mental Health setting)
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council and/or Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • oPost Graduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy/Psychiatric Therapeutics (or equivalent)
  • oPost Graduate Diploma/MSc in Clinical Pharmacy/Psychiatric Therapeutics (or equivalent or willing to work towards this)
  • oSupplementary or Independent Prescriber (or willing to work towards this)
  • oAssociate member or member of the CHMP
Experience
  • oProven experience of good performance in previous posts, where relevant
  • oDemonstrate ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate medicine related information to Mental Health patients, carers and clinical staff
