Here at Greencore Wisbech, we have a team of 525 colleagues and manufacture premium chilled ready-to-cook meals for major retailers such as Sainsbury's, Aldi and Co-op.

What you'll be doing:

As a Quality Assurance (QA) Intake Operative, you will play an essential role in ensuring that all raw materials, ingredients and packaging arriving on site meet our strict food safety, quality and customer standards before being accepted into the manufacturing process.

Working closely with our Intake, Warehouse, Production and Technical teams, you will be responsible for completing incoming goods inspections, carrying out quality checks and ensuring all products meet the required specifications.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing temperature checks on incoming chilled and frozen goods, ensuring products are received within the required limits.

  • Checking product labelling, use-by dates, batch codes and traceability information to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Reviewing incoming deliveries against relevant product specifications and identifying any discrepancies.

  • Completing accurate intake inspection records, quality documentation and system updates.

  • Identifying, reporting and escalating any non-conforming or damaged raw materials and packaging to the appropriate teams.

  • Supporting the management of rejected or quarantined stock, ensuring products are appropriately identified and controlled.

  • Working closely with Warehouse, Intake, Production, Technical and Supply Chain teams to investigate and resolve quality concerns.

  • Carrying out product sampling and quality assessments when required.

  • Monitoring and maintaining high standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), hygiene and food safety within intake and storage areas.

  • Ensuring all procedures relating to HACCP, allergen controls, food safety, quality and Health & Safety are followed.

  • Supporting investigations into supplier quality issues and reporting any recurring concerns.

  • Assisting with internal audits, traceability exercises and Technical activities when required.

  • Helping to maintain accurate records to support full product traceability throughout the manufacturing process.

  • Promoting a positive food safety and quality culture across the site.

  • Supporting continuous improvement activities to help reduce quality issues and maintain high standards within the intake process.

What we're looking for:

To be successful in this role, we're looking for someone who:

  • Ideally has previous experience within a food manufacturing, warehouse intake, Quality Assurance or Technical environment.
