An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Insurance Technician (Financial Strategy) for Essex Police.

This role requires the successful candidate to have at least 2-3 years’ experience an insurance related industry to include 1 years’ office administration, customer service and working knowledge of all Office applications. In addition, experience of working in a policing environment will be an advantage. This experience will assist the candidate in being able to handle all areas of Force motor and civil claims.

You will be line managed by the Senior Insurance Technician and will support them at various insurance forums. You will also be an active member of the Claims Handling Group within the South East and Eastern Region Police Insurance Consortium (SEERPIC).

The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to manage work with tight deadlines and demonstrate the ability to organise and maintain records.

This post acts as the single point of contact (SPOC) for the Force providing an efficient administration service relating to motor claims in accordance with force policy and procedures.

This opportunity would suit a highly motivated and dynamic individual who can bring their experience to support the successful running of the Force Insurance function.

What we are looking for:

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • 2-3 years’ relevant experience within an insurance related industry including office administration and customer service. Experience of a policing environment would be an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills, as well as being able to organise and prioritise your own workload
  • That you are fully conversant with a range of Microsoft applications, specifically Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • An ability to become rapidly familiar with a wide range of computer systems used in the role and processes.

You will also need to provide evidence of the following skills:

  • The ability to analyse, assimilate, and interpret available information
  • Proficient at communication, both verbal and written.

This is a hybrid role based at Essex Police Headquarters, Chelmsford. The extent of flexibility will be agreed through individual assessment with the line manager to assess operational requirements and individual’s suitability for home working. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend the contractual workplace.
