Job description

Whats the role all about?

This is a varied and rewarding role where youll be responsible for delivering a full range of insurance services across the council. Youll be the first point of contact for insurance queries and claims, supporting internal teams, schools, elected members, and external partners. From managing claims and interpreting policy documents to supporting procurement and renewal processes, your work will help ensure the councils insurance function runs smoothly and effectively.

What will your day look like?

Your day will be a mix of communication, coordination, and analysis. Youll monitor the insurance inbox, register new claims, and update systems like LACHS. Youll liaise with insurers, brokers, solicitors, and members of the public to ensure claims are handled efficiently. Youll assess the quality of information provided, escalate complex cases, and support the Senior Insurance Advisor with Freedom of Information requests and complaints. Youll also provide guidance on insurance queries and help promote risk management across the council.

Who are we looking for?

Were looking for someone with strong administrative experience and excellent IT skills. Although a solid understanding of insurance processes and regulations will be desirable, it is not essential and we will provide you with extensive training on insurance processes. Youll be confident working independently, prioritising tasks, and communicating with a wide range of audiences. Integrity, adaptability, and a proactive approach are essential.
