Job description

Service Care Solutions is working alongside Preston City Council to recruit an Insurance Manager for a short-term contract. Below are the details of the role:

3 months ongoing

Role Overview:
  1. Ensure the Council maintains appropriate, cost-effective, and legally compliant insurance cover at all times.
  2. Lead and manage all insurance claims handling, liaising with insurers, claims handlers, legal representatives, loss adjusters, and internal departments to ensure timely and professional resolution.
  3. Oversee the procurement and renewal of the Council’s insurance policies, including broker engagement and policy documentation review.
  4. Ensure compliance with the Insurance Act 2015 and other relevant legislation.
  5. Manage insurance-related contracts and supplier relationships, including brokers and specialist providers.
  6. Provide expert advice on insurance-related matters, including contract clauses and supplier insurance documentation.
  7. Represent the Council in legal proceedings related to insurance claims when necessary.
  8. Maintain strong working relationships with insurers and brokers, staying informed of market trends and best practices.
  9. Coordinate insurer-led property surveys and support risk improvement strategies.
  10. Keep senior officers and Councillors informed of high-risk or high-value claims.
  11. Collaborate across departments to develop risk reduction and loss prevention strategies.
  12. Maintain and improve systems for recording, managing, and analysing insurance data; produce regular reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  13. Monitor industry developments to ensure continuous improvement and value for money in the Council’s insurance arrangements.
  14. Perform other duties within the remit of the role and professional expertise as required by Accountancy Services.
