The Opportunity:

A prestigious top-tier law firm in Bristol is seeking an experienced Insurance Litigation Solicitor to join its renowned Dispute Resolution Unit. This opportunity is perfect for a 4+ PQE solicitor with a focus on Insurance Policyholder Disputes, alongside the chance to gain exposure to a wide range of commercial disputes.

The firm's Dispute Resolution team is well-regarded for managing complex, high-profile cases across various sectors, including professional indemnity, directors' and officers' liability, cyber insurance, and construction insurance. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with national and international clients and play a key role in growing the firm's Insurance Policyholder Disputes practice.

Role Overview:

The firm is looking for a solicitor with substantial experience in commercial litigation, particularly in insurance disputes, who is keen to develop expertise in Insurance Policyholder Disputes. The role involves handling high-value, complex disputes such as contractual issues, professional negligence, warranty disputes, and more.

The candidate will be working directly alongside a leading partner in the Dispute Resolution Unit, who has a busy caseload that provides a range of opportunities to contribute to high-profile cases. This provides the successful candidate with significant exposure to cutting-edge insurance litigation, while also enabling them to develop their own practice under the guidance of an expert in the field.

As part of this dynamic team, the solicitor will manage sophisticated work across multiple sectors, advising high-profile clients in insurance and other industries. This role also offers significant opportunities for client development, business growth, and mentoring junior lawyers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of insurance disputes, with a focus on policyholder disputes and complex commercial litigation.
  • Provide advice on matters related to professional indemnity, directors' and officers' liability, cyber insurance, property and casualty, and more.
  • Work directly alongside a Legal 500-ranked partner, gaining valuable experience on a busy caseload and contributing to the growth of the Insurance Policyholder Disputes practice.
  • Collaborate closely with other teams in the firm, including those specializing in fraud, financial services, banking disputes, and corporate litigation.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing expert legal advice in high-value disputes.
  • Actively engage in business development initiatives to support the firm's growth and reputation in the sector.
  • Mentor and support junior associates, contributing to their professional development and the overall success of the team.


What's Required:

  • 4+ years PQE in commercial litigation, with experience in insurance disputes.
  • A strong interest in and experience with insurance policyholder disputes, including areas such as professional indemnity, directors' and officers' liability, cyber, and construction insurance.
  • Proven experience managing high-value and complex commercial disputes.
  • A proactive approach to business development and a desire to contribute to the growth of the practice.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to manage a diverse and demanding caseload.
  • SRA registration or equivalent legal qualification.
