Job summary

William James Recruitment is seeking an Insurance Coverage Solicitor in Manchester to handle a varied caseload of property damage and insurance coverage matters. The role is hybrid, offering exposure to high-value claims and opportunities to work with major insurer clients.

You will draft coverage advice, pleadings, and court documents, while analysing insurance coverage issues and strategy. Excellent analytical, drafting, and client communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor or CILEx with relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of property damage disputes and insurance coverage issues.
• Experience dealing with breach of contract, negligence, property law and/or product liability matters.
• Comfortable managing your own caseload with minimal supervision.
• Experience supporting complex or high-value litigation would be advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Confident drafting clear, technically detailed legal documentation and advice.
• Strong communication skills with insurer clients and senior claims handlers.
• Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload.
• Commercial and client-focused approach with an interest in technically complex insurance work.

Responsibilities

• Independently managing a caseload of property damage and insurance coverage matters from start to finish.
• Supporting on large and complex, high-value property damage claims.
• Drafting bespoke coverage advice, pleadings, applications and court proceedings.
• Analysing issues relating to insurance coverage, liability, quantum and litigation strategy.
• Conducting detailed investigations, legal research and document reviews.
• Preparing draft instructions to counsel and experts.
• Supporting all aspects of the litigation process on complex matters.
• Attending client meetings, strategy discussions and conferences.
• Conducting settlement negotiations, roundtable discussions and ADR.
• Delivering training seminars and workshops to insurer clients.
• Contributing to client development and technical knowledge-sharing initiatives.
