The role

You will be responsible for instrumentation and electrical maintenance and technical support to the Wastewater Production team, focusing on repairing and maintaining wastewater assets. This role involves working in a modern, fast-paced environment, providing proactive and reactive support to ensure compliance with all regulatory and environmental standards.

Key accountabilities

Given the potential for lone working, you should be comfortable working independently or as part of a team. The role includes working in confined spaces and contributing to capital and operational projects to meet operational and maintenance needs. Participation in an out-of-hours standby rota is required. Your duties include:

  1. Implementing efficient instrumentation and electrical maintenance and installation services.
  2. Fault analysis, rectification, and ensuring correct operation of systems-based equipment.
  3. Performing planned and proactive maintenance activities.
  4. Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and internal policies.
  5. Maintaining financial control within predefined budgets.
  6. Providing accurate asset performance and repair information.
  7. Analyzing recurring maintenance issues and recommending solutions.
  8. Maintaining relevant skills, competence, and recency in all related areas throughout your career.
Skills & experience

Applicants should be a time-served apprentice or hold an equivalent qualification, supported by academic credentials such as HNC or minimum ONC in a relevant technical area of instrumentation or electrical maintenance. Essential requirements include:

  • A valid driving license.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, resilience, self-motivation, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to diversify into specialized areas like chlorine gas systems and high voltage installations.
  • Diagnostic, organizational, planning, communication, and computer skills.
  • Experience with PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, including fault diagnostics and system modifications.
