Descrição da oferta de emprego

Are you an experienced Instrumentation & Electrical Technician looking for a role where your technical skills genuinely matter?

This is an opportunity to join an established operational environment supporting the safe and reliable running of production and plant facilities.

We’re looking for someone with a strong instrumentation background, good electrical knowledge and hands‑on maintenance experience gained within oil & gas, energy, chemical, process, manufacturing or another similarly regulated industrial environment.

The role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across instrumentation and electrical systems, while working closely with the wider maintenance and operations teams.

You’ll have a varied role covering everything from routine inspections and servicing through to fault finding, breakdown response, contractor supervision and supporting the installation and commissioning of new equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out and recording routine and preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Identifying, planning and completing non-routine maintenance and repair work.
  • Servicing a range of process control instrumentation, including transmitters, controllers, analysers and associated equipment.
  • Carrying out vendor-recommended servicing and maintenance activities.
  • Maintaining site services and equipment in safe and reliable working order.
  • Responding to plant breakdowns and, where possible, participating in out-of-hours call‑outs.
  • Assisting other maintenance technicians and operational staff when required.
  • Developing a good working understanding of the site's process, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Carrying out equipment isolations in accordance with permit requirements to ensure work can be completed safely.
  • Supporting the installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment.
  • Working alongside specialist vendor engineers to ensure servicing and maintenance is completed efficiently and to the required standard.
  • Liaising with and supervising contractors working on site, ensuring they comply with permits and site standards.
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and identifying and removing potential hazards.
  • Keeping maintenance records and systems accurately updated.
  • Building your technical knowledge through training, supplier seminars and working alongside equipment specialists.
  • Working under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor and Operations team depending on the task.
About you

You’ll ideally be a qualified Instrumentation & Electrical Technician with several years of hands‑on industrial maintenance experience.

We’re looking for:

  • An Instrumentation qualification, such as an apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems and maintenance.
  • Around 4–5 years' experience maintaining instrumentation and/or electrical equipment.
  • Experience within oil & gas, energy, chemical, process, manufacturing or a similarly safety‑critical industrial environment.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also being a strong team player.
  • Experience with process control instrumentation and associated equipment.
  • A good understanding of safe systems of work, permits and equipment isolations.
  • The ability to plan and prioritise your workload effectively.
  • Good problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and effective when dealing with breakdowns or other pressured situations.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability and a proactive approach to getting the job done.
  • Good IT skills and confidence completing maintenance records and documentation.
Why this role?

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands‑on technical maintenance but wants to work within a professional, highly regulated environment where safety, reliability and technical standards are genuinely important.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across a range of instrumentation and electrical systems, work alongside specialist engineers and equipment suppliers, and continue developing your technical knowledge in a complex operational environment.

If you're an experienced Instrumentation & Electrical Technician with an industrial maintenance background and you're looking for your next challenge, we'd be keen to hear from you.
