Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide instruction on Violin and Viola to individuals and groups of pupils in primary and secondary schools as required by the authority.

Accountability

The person appointed will report to the Instrumental Music Team Leader.

The post holder will also have to liaise with the Head Teacher in Primary Schools and the Principal Teacher of Music in Secondary Schools. Instructors should be aware that timetabling is assessed on an annual basis and may be subject to change.

Remit

To provide Instrumental Instruction in line with Council policy.

To instruct from beginner level through to, and including Advanced Higher as required, on Violin and Viola.

To encourage participation of students at school and authority ensembles.

To be a good ambassador for, and actively promote, the Instrumental Music Service and contribute to its strategic direction.

To comply with all procedures relating to the delivery of Instrumental Instruction in East Dunbartonshire schools.

Any other duties consistent with the post as requested by the Instrumental Music Team Leader.

Candidates should be prepared to be involved in the authority extra-curricular Bands and Orchestras programme if required.
