Job description

Instrument Technician

Join a dynamic team where you will play a key role in maintaining and servicing critical instrumentation equipment. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Instrument Technician to contribute to a high-performing maintenance team, ensuring the smooth operation of process control systems in a challenging and rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance checks, scheduling, and recording tasks.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation faults efficiently.
  • Service and calibrate a range of process control instrumentation, including transmitters, controllers, and analysers.
  • Support vendor-specified maintenance activities.
  • Maintain site services and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Respond to breakdowns and provide advice outside of normal working hours when required.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist other technicians and operational staff, demonstrating an understanding of process, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Carry out equipment isolations according to permit requirements for safe maintenance.
  • Provide support during the installation and commissioning of new facilities.
  • Work alongside specialist vendor engineers and assist in ensuring maintenance is completed to high standards.
  • Supervise and liaise with contractors to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and equipment advancements through training and supplier engagement.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 4-5 years of maintenance experience with instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Recognised instrument qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
