A leading company in the engineering sector is seeking an Instrument Engineer to join their EC&I Team. The role involves designing, developing, and managing instrumentation systems, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing technical support. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 2 years of experience in instrumentation engineering, particularly within a chemical processing environment.
Job Description
Purpose: As a key member of the EC&I Team, the Instrument Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, installation, and management of all instrumentation and systems across the site. Provide technical support to maintenance technicians and support manufacturing facilities in production.
Contribute and deliver capital projects. Ensure regulatory compliance.
Ensure that all health, safety, and environmental requirements are met, including workplace organization, work instructions, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and housekeeping standards in accordance with GLP and GMP. Demonstrate understanding of creating a safe environment and working safely. Follow relevant practices and procedures.
Assist in data collection and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs). Organize and deliver SHE-related training modules for staff.
Engage in verbal and written communication within the engineering team. Participate in interdepartmental communications.
Follow company policies to maintain confidentiality on sensitive information.
Carry out other duties as directed by the EC&I Engineering Leader.
Report to the EC&I Engineering Leader and collaborate with the Head of Engineering and Maintenance, Senior Control Systems Engineer, Control Systems Engineer, Senior Instrument Engineer, and Electrical Engineer.
Essential: Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Desirable: Functional safety qualifications (e.g., CompEx).
Essential: Strong knowledge of COMAH and ATEX regulations and safety standards. Proficiency in instrumentation and control system design, installation, and maintenance. Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills, and strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Desirable: Proficiency in AutoCAD for designing instrumentation and control systems. Experience with batch processing systems. Familiarity with PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems, particularly Siemens PCS7.
Minimum of 2 years in instrumentation engineering within a chemical processing or similar industrial environment.
