Job Description

My client is keen to meet with industry specialist Instrumentation Engineers to join their manufacturing arm within their technical support team. The technical support team is a multi-disciplinary organisation with interface to technical, and in some cases business, support requirements for our global manufacturing area. The function primarily caters to the technical needs of GM Operating facilities. Your primary role will include designing, developing, installing, managing, and maintaining instrumentation systems across multiple downstream facilities. You will also be responsible for providing technical support on high-priority system issues. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical guidance, support, training, and expertise to plant departments.
  • Monitoring instrumentation systems performance across all downstream departments.
  • Assessing instrumentation performance and recommending improvements for system optimisation.
  • Developing and maintaining lifecycle management activities for instrumentation systems.
  • Establishing auditing guidelines and performing regular instrument audits.
  • Leading the development of new strategies and validating the feasibility of improving company productivity.
  • Ensuring manufacturing knowledge is captured in the knowledge repository and continuous improvement is delivered through benchmarking and best practices.
  • Providing awareness sessions and leading technical exchanges and conferences.
  • Maintaining the instrumentation systems knowledge repository.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in instrumentation and contributing to troubleshooting activities.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will hold a:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 12 years' experience in refining, oil and gas plants, or petrochemical industries.
  • Proficiency in codes and standards in the oil and gas industry, e.g., API, BS, ISO, ASME, ANSI, IEC, ISA, IEEE, etc.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with field instrument types and applications.
  • Knowledge of oil/gas-related plant processes.
