Position Summary
This position will direct institution-wide specialized programs and assume direct supervision of general living conditions of Persons In Our Care (PIOC) assigned as well as coordination, supervision, and direction of security and other professional staff at KMCI. This supervisor is responsible for all administrative activities within assigned units; the development, implementation and monitoring of overall institution goals, policies, and procedures as part of the institution management team; and planning and coordination of activities and relationships with outside agencies, organizations and the public.
Salary Information
The starting pay is between $97593 and $113068 per year, plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. The pay schedule/range is 81-34. A 12-month probationary period is be required.

Job Details
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment. Applicants who fail or refuse the drug screen will not be given further consideration for employment.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience in the following:
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment and/or specialized programs (e.g. treatment, clinical, and/or social services, education, religious programs, structured activities).
- Developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating security standards, policies and/or procedures in a secure setting.
- Participating in multi-disciplinary teams or approaches in the development, implementation and review of programs.
In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience in the following:
- Performing supervisory or lead-worker related activities (e.g. assigning, directing, and evaluating work of staff, performance evaluations, hiring, discipline, etc.)
- Managing and implementing the operating procedures of a work unit
- Interpreting and implementing administrative rules and/or policies, ensuring compliance with standards
