Job Description:

Position: Institute Manager

Pay: Up to £350 a day

Location: London

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the professional services, operational, technical, and administrative functions of the Institute, ensuring efficient support for research, education, knowledge transfer, and enterprise.
  • Manage the Institute's budget and resources, ensuring financial efficiency and policy compliance.
  • Support the Institute Director in implementing scientific and operational strategies.
  • Coordinate with business partners and service leads to meet the Institute's needs.
  • Ensure statutory and policy compliance.
  • Manage external relations initiatives.
Working Relationships:
  • Report directly to the Director of the Institute.
  • Manage up to 6 senior staff directly, and oversee up to 30 indirect reports.
Main Duties:
  • Provide leadership and management of professional services and technical teams.
  • Ensure high-quality operational services across all sites.
  • Manage resources including finance, staffing, and facilities.
  • Review and optimize the operational structure regularly.
  • Maintain effective governance and monitor performance.
  • Produce management reports and information.
  • Implement policies and regulations effectively.
  • Promote internal communication and staff engagement.
  • Oversee the Institute’s digital presence.
  • Manage activities at the Biological Services Facility.
  • Support the Establishment Certificate Holder in meeting responsibilities.
  • Develop business continuity plans with stakeholders.
  • Manage buildings and estates projects.
  • Ensure health & safety compliance and training.
  • Update business continuity plan and risk register regularly.
  • Support HTA regulations compliance.
  • Oversee fire safety and first aid arrangements.
