Job summary

Tdrs Llc is seeking an experienced Installation Supervisor to oversee automatic door installations across London. You will lead a team of engineers, stay hands-on on-site, and drive safety, quality and delivery on complex projects.

The role combines technical leadership with hands-on fieldwork and team development, with a mix of on-site activity and planning work from home or the office one day a week.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience installing automatic door systems (swing, sliding, bi-folding).
• Previous roles: Senior Installation Engineer, Lead Engineer, Team Leader or Installation Supervisor.
• Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge including installation, wiring, commissioning and fault finding.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on installation of automatic door systems across sites in London.
• Supervise installation engineers and coordinate across multiple sites.
• Provide technical guidance and act as escalation point for on-site issues.
• Plan and allocate engineers to projects based on experience and site needs.
• Monitor quality and ensure safety standards and regulations are met.

Installation Supervisor - Automatic Doors

Location: London

Salary: Circa £40,000 Basic + Bonus (£3,000-£3,500 per annum)

The Opportunity

An established and highly respected company within the automatic door industry is looking to recruit an experienced Installation Supervisor / Lead Installation Engineer to oversee its installation operations across London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Automatic Door Installation Engineer looking to take the next step into supervision, or an existing Installation Supervisor seeking a fresh challenge with greater responsibility.

The position offers the perfect balance between hands-on installation work, technical leadership and team management, allowing you to remain actively involved on-site whilst taking responsibility for supporting and developing a growing team of installation engineers.

You’ll be joining an established business with a strong reputation in the industry, taking a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of automatic door installation projects across the London region.

The Role

As Installation Supervisor, you will act as the main point of contact for installation engineers in the field, providing technical support, overseeing site activities and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

You will be responsible for supervising an established team of approximately 5 installation engineers, with plans to increase this to 7, acting as the vital link between engineers and senior management.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Hands-on Installation: Carrying out and supporting installations of automatic swing doors, sliding doors and bi-folding door systems.
• Team Supervision: Overseeing and supporting installation engineers across multiple sites throughout London.
• Technical Support: Acting as the first point of escalation for engineers, assisting with technical challenges, installation issues and fault finding.
• Installation Planning: Reviewing schedules and ensuring engineers are allocated to appropriate projects based on their experience, qualifications and site requirements.
• Quality Control: Monitoring installation standards, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with relevant industry regulations.
• Training & Development: Identifying skills gaps, supporting junior engineers and helping develop the technical capabilities of the wider team.
• Operational Support: Liaising with management regarding project progress, staffing requirements and operational challenges.
• Team Administration: Reviewing timesheets, maintaining equipment compliance and supporting general team administration.

The role will typically involve 4 days per week working on-site across London, with 1 day working from home or the office to focus on planning, administration and team coordination.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced automatic door installation professional who combines strong practical technical knowledge with excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Extensive experience installing automatic door systems, particularly swing doors, sliding doors and bi-folding doors.
• Previous experience as a Senior Installation Engineer, Lead Engineer, Team Leader or Installation Supervisor.
• Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, including installation, wiring, commissioning and fault finding.
• Experience working with automatic door systems from manufacturers such as dormakaba, TORMAX, ASSA ABLOY, Record, GEZE or similar.
• The ability to provide technical guidance and support to engineers working on-site.
• Strong organisational skills and an understanding of installation scheduling and project requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to liaise with engineers, customers and senior management.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to lead by example.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Previous supervisory experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Applications are particularly welcome from experienced Senior Automatic Door Installation Engineers who are ready to progress into a leadership role and take on greater responsibility while remaining hands-on.

Experience with revolving doors and turnstiles would also be beneficial, although these are not a core requirement of the position.

Salary & Benefits

The successful candidate can expect a competitive remuneration package, including:

• Basic salary circa £40,000 per annum.
• Annual bonus of approximately £3,000-£3,500.
