The Big Cat Sanctuary is seeking an experienced and motivated Installation & Maintenance Electrician to join our dedicated team. About the Role:
As our dedicated Electrician, you will carry out reactive, planned, and preventative electrical work across our diverse site. From fault-finding and repairs to commissioning and maintaining lighting systems, security and fire alarms, and more — your work will directly support our mission and keep everything running smoothly.
You’ll work with minimal supervision but be a strong team player, capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues across single and 3-phase commercial and domestic systems
- Conduct routine maintenance, testing, and ensure installations meet manufacturer standards
- Deliver high-quality workmanship in line with safety requirements and building codes
- Carry out quality control checks on both internal and external electrical works
- Install and maintain containment, wiring, data networks, fire alarms, and more
- Inspect and repair electrical components including transformers, motors, and circuit breakers
- Specify and install new supplies to buildings and plant equipment
- Ensure up-to-date knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation
Requirements:
- Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Maintenance)
- Strong experience with:
- ECIR, PAT, RCD/RCBO testing, thermal imaging, and motor testing
- Single and 3-phase installations and commissioning
- IT/data network cabling installation and
- Thorough understanding of IET Wiring Regulations and electrical safety
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and diagrams
- Working knowledge of Risk Assessments & Safe Systems of Work
- Broad building services and general maintenance knowledge
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (with ability to learn bespoke systems)
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (The Big Cat Sanctuary is not accessible by public transport)
- Right to Work in the UK (British Citizen, Indefinite Leave to Remain, EEA Citizen with Settled Status, or valid Visa/Work Permit)
