Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking an electrically focused technician to support industrial installations. You will work on a wide range of tasks from 16‑amp to 2000‑amp MCCB boards, read diagrams, and complete UK electrical certifications.

Based near Rushden, you will stock the van, lay conduits and cables, fit consumer units and lighting, and travel to sites with a company vehicle. A full UK driving licence and industrial experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 18th Edition City & Guilds required or equivalent certification.
• NVQ Level 3 / AM2 or equivalent qualification.
• ECS or CSCS card held.
• 2391 Testing & Inspection qualification preferred.
• Experience with industrial electrical installations.
• Ability to work at height and hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Review diagrams, job specs and floor plans for daily builds.
• Stock vehicle with wiring, components and tools, visiting local trade counters.
• Lay and secure conduit, trunking and cables in walls and ceilings.
• Fit and connect consumer units, lighting, switches and sockets.
• Complete Electrical Installation Certificates to verify compliance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

From 16‑amp supplies to 2000‑amp MCCB boards, EICRs, maintenance work, emergency stop systems and control panels, you’ll gain experience across a huge range of industrial electrical installations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review technical diagrams, job specifications, and floor plans for the day’s build.
• Stock the work vehicle with necessary wiring, components, and tools, often by visiting local trade counters.
• Be laying and securing conduit, trunking, and cables in walls and ceiling cavities.
• Fit and connect electrical accessories, such as consumer units (fuse boards), lighting fixtures, switches, and socket outlets.
• Complete the required electrical certification (e.g., Electrical Installation Certificates in the UK) to verify the work meets national electrical and building codes.
