Job summary

Yunex Traffic is seeking an Installation Engineer to join our depot team in the UK. The role focuses on second-fix traffic signal installation, wiring, testing and commissioning on Plus+, ELV and LV systems, delivering projects for Newcastle City Council and surrounding areas.

You will undertake installation, repair, modification and maintenance on highways infrastructure, both planned and reactive, ensuring works meet Yunex Traffic standards and client expectations.

• Electrical qualification or relevant experience (training provided).

Responsibilities

Do you want to make a difference with the work you do? Join us as an Installation Engineer. Reporting to the Normanton depot in West Yorkshire, you will work as part of a multi-disciplined engineering team delivering traffic signal installation activities for Newcastle City Council and the surrounding area. The role is predominantly focused on carrying out second-fix traffic signal installation, wiring, testing and commissioning activities on Plus+, ELV and LV traffic signal systems.

You will safely undertake installation, repair, modification and maintenance activities on both new and existing highways infrastructure, ensuring all works are completed to the required Yunex Traffic standards. This will include works of both planned and reactive nature, requiring flexibility to respond to operational and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation of traffic signals, controllers, pedestrian crossings, and ancillary equipment.
• Manage and troubleshoot tasks across various sites daily.
• Conduct electrical tests and pre-commissioning checks.
• Maintain clear communication with customers and fellow contractors on site.
• Ensure all work is completed to specification, meeting high standards and deadlines.
• Participate in mandatory product and industry accreditation training.
• Flexibility for out-of-hours work to meet service and contract demands.
• Adhere to health and safety protocols, prioritizing hazard identification and mitigation.

Qualifications & Experience

• Ideally possess an electrical qualification or some relevant experience (training provided for those without).
• Cooperative and proactive, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
• Ability to transition between tasks and work areas while acquiring new skills.
• Detail-oriented, reliable, and committed to delivering quality work.
• Strong communication skills and a team player mentality.
• Full UK Driving License required; company van and tools provided.
• Comfortable working outdoors and at heights.
