Job summary

The Castle School in Taunton is recruiting a self-employed Peripatetic Singing Tutor to join the Music Department. You will deliver 20 or 30-minute lessons to students aged 11–16, individually, in pairs, or small groups, and invoice parents directly for fees.

You will create inspiring lessons, prepare pupils for exams, and contribute to school performances while maintaining safeguarding standards and clear communication with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching singing to 11–16-year-olds.
• Ability to plan engaging, varied voice/singing lessons.
• Experience preparing students for exams.
• Experience teaching beginners in voice/singing.
• Strong communication and IT literacy for teaching activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and structure voice/singing lessons for individual, paired and group sessions.
• Plan teaching using a variety of styles and approaches.
• Monitor pupil progress and gather feedback from students, parents and managers.
• Provide feedback to Head of Music on pupil progress and participate in performances.
• Maintain safeguarding and health & safety awareness and report concerns promptly.
