Job summary

Paignton Academy is seeking a caring Learning Support Assistant to join the SEND team across Borough Road and Waterleat Road sites, delivering tailored support to students with diverse needs and helping them access lessons with greater independence.

Working with teaching staff, you will deliver targeted interventions, monitor progress and contribute to an inclusive classroom culture that enables every student to thrive.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children or young people, school-based experience desirable.
• Passionate about supporting students with SEND and helping them achieve positive outcomes.
• Patient, empathetic, approachable and encouraging.
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students and staff.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Organised, reliable and proactive, with initiative.
• Willingness to collaborate across the Academy.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to individual students and small groups.
• Support students to access the curriculum and engage in lessons.
• Assist with planned learning activities and targeted interventions.
• Encourage students to develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.
• Support students' academic, social and emotional development.
• Work collaboratively with teaching, SEND and pastoral colleagues.
• Monitor students' progress and wellbeing, sharing updates with colleagues.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
