Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is supporting a welcoming secondary school in Barking to recruit a passionate Science Teacher to teach KS3–KS4, with KS5 desirable. The role focuses on practical learning, high standards and student-centred education in a supportive environment.

You will deliver engaging lessons across key stages, contribute to curriculum development and STEM enrichment, and promote safeguarding and inclusion while preparing students for GCSE assessments.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching Science in a secondary school.
• Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
• Excellent classroom management and behaviour strategies.
• Ability to motivate and inspire learners.
• Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of children.
• Legal right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons across KS3–KS4 (KS5 desirable).
• Specialise in Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
• Prepare students for GCSE exams and practical assessments.
• Differentiate for SEND, EAL and high-attaining pupils.
• Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and attainment.
• Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental meetings.
• Support STEM clubs, science fairs or enrichment projects.
• Communicate progress with parents and carers.
• Uphold safeguarding and school policies.
